Jakarta. Indonesia Cocoa Association (Askindo) estimates, exports of processed cocoa in 2012 could reach 350,000 tons. That number has increased compared to last year which only 250,000 tons.
Chairman Askindo Zulhelfi Sikumbang say, increase in exports is due to the over supply of cocoa. He said the economic crisis of Europe and the United States (U.S.), will not directly impact the performance of processed cocoa exports from Indonesia.
"Cocoa Indonesia was never rejected by other countries. Although the price will be decreased or increased because of the crisis, but the market there will still be there," said Zulhelfi in Jakarta, Sunday (1 / 1).
Processed cocoa prices this year will reach about U.S. $ 2,000-US $ 2,800 per ton. Zulhelfi said the price was almost the same as 2011. "Since the crisis of over-production of European and West African cocoa prices have dropped 40%," he said.
For your information, the Ministry of Industry (Ministry of Industry) recorded, processed Indonesian cocoa exports increased from U.S. $ 142 million in January-May 2010 to U.S. $ 216.4 million in 2011. As for the export of cocoa for the same period rose from U.S. $ 12.2 million from a year ago to U.S. $ 16 million in 2011.
On the other hand, Kako seed exports fell from U.S. $ 448.3 million in the first three months of last year to U.S. $ 289.4 million in 2011.
Related production this year, he explained, would reach 500,000 tons, an increase compared to 2011 which amounted to 420,000 tons. Increased production, he said, driven by favorable weather climate. Whereas in 2011, production had fallen sharply due to bad weather anomalies. (Okz)/MB
