PEKANBARU: Plantation PT Nusantara (PTPN) V biogas plant inaugurated a mega watt power in the region Tandun, Kampar regency, Riau.
"With the biogas plant, we will begin to reduce dependence on diesel fuel for operating the plant," said Director of PTPN V, Fauzi Joseph, in Riau, Monday, January 30, 2012.
He explained that the biogas power plant that uses waste oil from palm oil mills (MCC) PTPN V in Tandun. That way, he expects gradually diesel used PTPN V for MCC will be replaced by biogas.
"Through this biogas-powered generator, we could save about 6,000 liters of diesel fuel cost per day or equivalent to Rp 5 billion," he said.
According to him, generating biogas from waste oil that is the first in Indonesia. Plants will continue to be developed along with the increasing production of MCC processing each year.
"If last year we were in Tandun MCC is able to process oil as much as 45 tons per hour, it is expected that by 2012 this number will increase to 60 tons. Thus, 'output' of the waste generated has also increased and will automatically increase the production of biogas for power generation, "he said.
According to him, investors holding PTPN V Mas Energy Work (KME) for the construction of the biogas power plant. Cooperation contract with KME PTPN V valid for 10 years, and thereafter held company wholly ownership of the country.
During the same work is still ongoing, he added, PTPN V will buy electricity from biogas-powered generator was worth Rp889 per Kwh, or cheaper than the price of industrial fuel.
"This energy will we use to replace our diesel fuel, and if it continues to evolve we will use for the electricity needs of the people in the neighborhood surrounding the factory," he said.
Nor Kampar regent Jefri who attended the ceremony said it welcomed the biogas-powered generator because it will reduce pollution. In fact, he said the local government is also planning to adopt the biogas-powered electricity generation in Kampar by processing cow manure waste as fuel.
"I will make a special area of biogas in Kampar with providing assistance to each resident cows, waste can be processed into electrical energy and create a cook for the citizens," he said.
He hopes that PTPN V could contribute to the community around that area in particular its work in helping to electricity.(Ant)/Eksp
