Nunukan:
Society Sebatik Island in particular that has oil palm plantations are
looking forward to the role of the government to build refineries' crude
palm oil "(CPO) on the island of Sabah bordering Malaysia.
Head
of the village of Tanjung Karang Sebatik Nunukan district, Arifuddin
Abdullah in Sebatik, Sunday (20/1), describes the community during this
very difficult market palm oil production in the absence of palm oil
refinery on the island of Sebatik.
One way is to sell to Tawau Malaysia or given to middlemen or "collectors" even though the price is very low. But that's just a step that can help people in the island's main harvest time in order not to lose money, said Arifuddin.
To
that end, the marketing issues related to oil palm fruit Sebatik Island
residents who have not been solved to this day, the government should
step in finding the best solution for the island are mostly engaged in
the palm oil sector.
Therefore,
he added, had been people who carry or sell palm oil to Malaysia Tawau
is often played by middlemen in neighboring countries by offering prices
that do not correspond to the operational costs incurred.
However, Arifuddin said, must accept this fact because there is no alternative to palm oil to sell them to middlemen whoMalaysia was there. This
condition can be reduced if there are palm oil refinery in Pulau
Sebatik, although there has been a refinery that was built in the
district of West Sebatik by former Regent Nunukan, Abdul Hafid Ahmad.
Arifuddin
said CPO refinery capacity was only able to accommodate 15 tons per day
so most likely not be able to hold the entire productionpalm island community that is now starting to produce. If
already there CPO refinery in Pulau Sebatik, he believes, Malaysian
businessman who had been toying with the price of palm oil often will
come on the island to buy palm oil.
"I
am very sure, if there's refinery in Pulau Sebatik the community that
has palm oil does not sell it to Tawau (Malaysia). So ascertained
Malaysian businessmen to come buy in Sebatik," he said.
Therefore, he was expecting the government intervened to procure palm oil refinery on the island of Sebatik. (Ant/OL-2)
